WEDNESDAY Spring Exploring Acrylic Painting Class with Dwight Luna
WEDNESDAY, March 26. 2025, through WEDNESDAY, May 14 , 2025—8 week session—Time: 6 - 9 p.m.
Location: Elkhart Art League Studio, 131 Tyler Street, B-1, Elkhart 46516 (Located at the West end of the Elkhart Depot)
Cost: $153 for Members/ $186 for Non-Members
Whether you are a beginner who would like to learn the basics of painting with acrylics or a painter who would like to expand your skill set, this class will offer steps to help you succeed. You will learn to compose paintings, employ color theory, use brush techniques, and paint a variety of subjects.
Note: A basic acrylic painting kit with paints, brushes, and canvas boards is included. Please bring a pencil and eraser plus old rags to help clean brushes.
Lesson Plans:
Week 1: Understanding materials and uses. Discuss color theory and composition. Begin drawing and underpainting.
Week 2: Continue work on first painting with instructor guidance.
Week 3: Continue first painting and start a second painting. Review color theory and composition.
Week 4: Continue second painting. Students will choose their next subject.
Weeks 5 to 8: Continue painting at an individual pace with instructor guidance.

Dwight Luna has been painting for more than 30 years. His works have garnered numerous awards in local shows, and he has been a featured speaker at the Midwest Museum of American Art.
