Class description from the Instructor:
Do you love clay and want to build natural-lookin figures and animal sculptures? In this class, we will learn about the possibilities of clay materials and textures through slab rolling and other hand building techniques. The instructor will demonstrate a project involving the challenges of working with the human figure or any other projects requested by students. If you already have an idea for what you want to make, we can do that. If you need ideas, we will brainstorm together. Or you can simply follow along with the instructor. Look forward to leaving the class with new skills and creative possibilities! All skill levels are welcome. Some hand-building experience is helpful.
Students supply their own basic pottery tools. The EAL sells a basic beginning tool kit for $10. Tools will be discussed during the first class. Students need to bring an old pillowcase or t-shirt in addition to their tools. All other materials are provided.
